@hjertnes (re: tx.txt) We'll be happy to have you back once your client uses a cache and reduces its polling frequency to something more reasonable than every minute.
[2.6 months ago]
@hjertnes If you really feel it's necessary to fetch all twtxt files every minute, could you at least check if they've been modified since you last saw them and only download them if they have? Cheers.
[2.7 months ago]
@prologic Perhaps I misunderstood, but using /avatar.png will give the same avatar to all twtxt feeds on a host. How about /${twtxt_basename}.png instead?

@felix (re: permalinks) I don't think any clients support it, but something like “ #YYYY-mm-ddTHH:MM:SSZ' href='/user/at/2f416c9451c850bc9?n=user'>@user”.
[2.9 months ago]
@felix (re: permalinks) You can, however, refer to a given timestamp in a given twtxt file. It's not guaranteed to be unique, though.

[3.2 months ago]
@prologic An issue to discuss replies/threads would be nice.
[3.2 months ago]
@hjertnes Yes, if everyone appended, never deleted old “tweets” or corrected typos.
[3.2 months ago]
@prologic of course you _can_ do it if you want, but such a hash is only valid for as long as what you're hashing remains unchanged.
[3.2 months ago]
@marado (re: line 70) The most reliable reference to a line is its timestamp, which is not even guaranteed to be unique. It is for that reason alone that I switched to µs granularity in my own twtxt file.
[3.2 months ago]
@marado (re: line 70) yes, that would require twtxt files to be “append only”. I, for one, regularly prune old entries or move them to archive files.
[3.2 months ago]
@prologic, @hjertnes (re: replies and threads) Also, that would be stretching the use of the format to something which is beyond the scope.

Another twtxt project that could be interesting, once all twtxt files have been fetched and enumerated, is “The Complete Link Collection”, containing all URLs posted by all users at all times.

@lucidiot (re: Bratislava) Haha! :D

@lucidiot Thanks for the suggestion.

@lucidiot I am taking steps to write a simple, recursive twtxt fetcher that will log and crawl every new twtxt file it can find, given an initial URL to start from.
[11.3 months ago]
Damn, I ran my entire twtxt collection through a regexp to extract mentions (’@<nick url>’), and in three years it amounted to only 108 (and some of those were http/https isomers, or people that has moved from one place to another). That's really not a...
[11.3 months ago]
@johanbove I guess another way of signing the twtxt file could be to just pour it into keybase://public/$user/twtxt.txt as it is. Keybase users could then fetch it from their local /keybase directory and everyone coul...

@lucidiot (re: crawler) I think there was, and some point, although I can't point you in any direction. Should be quite simple to make one, though. And useful.
[11.4 months ago]
@mdosch You can see in https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/PKGBUILD?h=packages/neomutt which [ArchLinux] packages are needed to build neomutt. You have to add SQLite to that lot.

And now for some pancakes… :p

@lucidiot Oh yes, Calibre… It would such a shame to see that project die if the author is gonna stick to Py2, but it will obviously be a huge undertaking to convert it all to Py3.

@mdosch (re: autocrypt) Oh, my bad. I'm not sure which version of neomutt introduced autocrypt. I'm on NeoMutt 20191111, apparently.

ArchLinux has just switched from Python 3.7.4 to 3.8.0 – I bet this is gonna be lots of fun (especially with packages from AUR or PyPI).

@mdosch (re: autocrypt) PS: Also worth reading: https://neomutt.org/guide/autocryptdoc.html
[11.4 months ago]
@mdosch (re: autocrypt) Also worth noticing is that neomutt does not yet support tranferring the key to another device/app (e.g. Delta Chat), see https://autocrypt.org/dev-status.html

@mdosch (re: autocrypt) Feel free to autocrypt-mail me (klaus {at} seistrup {dot} dk) if you set it up.
[11.4 months ago]
@mdosch (re: autocrypt) Please note, however, that neomutt creates a new PGP key pair (ECC keys) for use with autocrypt; it doesn't use your normal PGP key. I rather like that approach.
[11.4 months ago]
@mdosch (re: autocrypt) Not hard at all: I altered ArchLinux' PKGBUILD file to include --enable-autocrypt and --sqlite, then added ‘set autocrypt’ and ‘set autocrypt_dir="~/.mutt/autocrypt"’ in my rc file. Neomutt then ask...
